Congratulations to Josefa Romero Jaramillo who was selected as a Patrick M. Hefferan Memorial Scholar 

"Hi! My name is Josefa and I am currently a sophomore at the University of Arizona pursuing a major in Biochemistry on pre-medical track. 

At the University of Arizona, I am currently involved in undergraduate research in Dr. Polt's lab, where we investigate how glycopeptides can pass the blood brain barrier and treat neurological conditions. I am also involved in Mexzona, where I serve as an interpreter for patients at a free medical clinic in Puerto Peñasco. 

I have such a deep passion for chemistry and medicine, so I am ever so grateful for the Patrick M. Hefferan Memorial Scholar and its donors. This scholarship doesn't just lift a financial burden, but it will allow me to continue my passion for research and medicine." ~ Josefa
