Regardless of which major or program of study, ALL students will enjoy a high level of departmental support!

Welcome to the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry!

  • Our graduates become successful chemists and biochemists in fields such as medicine, drug development, materials development, bioengineering, fuel technology, astrochemistry, forensic science, education, law, and more!
  • Each major encourages students to engage in a variety of research activities, receiving real world research experience in their respective lab sciences. 
  • We provide extensive support to our undergraduate students through a range of major advising, faculty advising, and peer mentorship.

Prospective Student Tours are usually held on the first Monday of every month, but we can accommodate most visits Monday-Friday between 9 am and 4 pm. Please contact us a couple of weeks in advance.

  • Meet with one or more of our undergraduate advisors to learn more about the department and your degree of interest.
  • Ask our CBC Student Ambassadors any questions you have about being a student.
  • Join our CBC Student Ambassadors as they take you on a tour of the department as well as one or more research labs

Those who study biochemistry will apply chemistry to examine and explore the processes of life. Biochemistry can lead to careers in medicine, sustainability, agriculture, toxicology, pharmacology, and more!

Those who study chemistry will gain a broad understanding of Chemistry is the study of the creation, properties, and reactions of the natural and synthetic substances that constitute the world around us. Students of chemistry are well-positioned to pursue careers in medicine, sustainability, toxicology, engineering, fuel science, food science, and more!
