Chemistry Majors/Minors

Chemistry Majors/Minors

Those who study chemistry will gain a broad understanding of Chemistry is the study of the creation, properties, and reactions of the natural and synthetic substances that constitute the world around us. Students of chemistry are well-positioned to pursue careers in medicine, sustainability, toxicology, engineering, fuel science, food science, and more!

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) students will gain a good foundation in multiple key focus areas of chemistry, with the opportunity to pursue a more specific track of their choosing according to their field of interest. The B.S. is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in the chemical sciences, either through postgraduate education or industry.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) students will gain a similar chemical understanding, but with its increased flexibility students will be encouraged to pursue double majors or minors in different areas of study. The B.A. is designed for students interested in non-laboratory professions.

Chemistry Minors

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is proud to offer minor courses of study in both Chemistry and Biochemistry. Students who pursue one, or both, are often looking to gain a broader understanding of these subjects to complement their major field of study.
Students interested in deepening their chemical knowledge and gaining more experience in these subjects are encouraged to also consider our Bachelor of Arts option in either subject as a potential double major.
If you are interested in declaring the minor, please email cbc-advising@distribution.arizona.edu or attend our drop-in hours on Thursdays from 10 to 12pm in-person (CHEM 314) or via Zoom. Please find the checklists below:
