Congratulations to Dr. Amy Graham on being awarded the Gerald J. Swanson Prize for Teaching Excellence!

The Gerald J. Swanson Prize for Teaching Excellence is designed to recognize excellence in undergraduate teaching at the University of Arizona. The Provost Office noted that Dr. Graham impacts thousands of science and engineering students through the Chemical Thinking curriculum for General Chemistry.

Dr. Graham's students describe Amy as a “once-in-a-lifetime instructor,” and for many of them Dr. Graham is a role model that sparked their passion for chemistry and inspired them to follow in Amy's footsteps as a future chemist.

This prize was created in honor of Gerald J. Swanson, who each semester would have students on the course waiting list lined up to plead their case for admission to his class. At the course's conclusion, it was not unusual for students to give Gerry a standing ovation.
