Dr. M. Bonner Denton celebrates 55th work anniversary at the University of Arizona!

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is proud to celebrate an extraordinary milestone: Dr. M. Bonner Denton’s 55th work anniversary at the University of Arizona. Over more than five decades, Dr. Denton has built a career of remarkable creativity, influence, and impact. A globally recognized leader in analytical chemistry and chemical instrumentation, he pioneered advances in imaging array detectors that transformed modern spectroscopic measurement, including ICP-OES and Raman spectroscopy. His innovations have become foundational to commercial scientific instrumentation and have influenced fields ranging from chemistry and materials science to geoscience, national security, and forensic science. Through this work, he has helped establish and sustain the University of Arizona’s international reputation for excellence in analytical chemistry and instrumentation.

Equally important is the impact Dr. Denton has had on society. He has been an exceptional mentor, scientific leader, and advocate for the rigorous use of science in service to society. His leadership and expertise continue to be sought throughout the global scientific community. Few careers demonstrate such a sustained combination of discovery, innovation, and societal impact.
