CBC Hispanic Heritage Student Spotlight: Vinicius Antonio
CBC is continuing to celebrate Hispanic Heritage! We now highlight Vinicius Antonio!
"Hello everyone! My name is Vinicius Antonio, I’m from Brazil, and I’m a new graduate student in chemistry at the University of Arizona. I’m really grateful for this opportunity and excited to be part of the community. I hope to make the most of this experience, learn as much as I can, and eventually use what I learn to give back to society.
I come from a humble family in a small town in the rural, semi-arid region of Brazil. I am the first person in my family to pursue higher education, and I owe much of my journey to my parents, who always taught me to believe in the transformative power of education.
A quote that represents my roots and identity is from Brazilian writer Euclides da Cunha:
“The sertanejo is, above all, a strong man.”
To me, this strength represents the ability to keep moving forward, remain humble, and never forget where you came from.
A fun fact about me: I love cooking, making fermented drinks, and trying out new recipes!" ~ Vinicius
