"Hello everyone, my name is Alanah Soto. I’m a sophomore here at the University of Arizona, majoring in Biochemistry with a minor in Leadership. I was born and raised in Tucson, just like my mom, while my dad is from Navojoa, Sonora in Mexico.

Although I’m not a first-generation college student, I am the first in my mom’s immediate family to attend college, which is something I take great pride in. My family has always been a major influence in my life and one of the biggest reasons I decided to pursue higher education. Being very family-oriented, I chose to stay close to my roots, and the University of Arizona felt like the perfect place to do that.

I grew up around this campus, developed a strong connection to it over the years, and I knew in my heart that I was born to be a Wildcat.

Apart from my studies, I’ve had the  privilege of being a member of the Pride of Arizona Marching Band. This program has been a truly magical experience and one of the greatest highlights of my college career. I’m forever grateful to have been part of such an amazing group of people.
