Black History Month Spotlight: Promise Inegbedion

CBC celebrates Black History Month 2026 with stories from students! 

"Hello, my name is Promise Inegbedion, a 2nd-year PhD student in Biochemistry. I am currently a teaching assistant for CHEM 151 – Chemical Thinking Lab I.

As a TA, I guide students through laboratory experiments, reinforce lecture concepts, proctor exams, grade assignments/exams, and provide academic support to help them build confidence in chemistry. 

My favorite part of being a TA is seeing students grow from feeling unsure to feeling capable and excited about science. One of the most rewarding moments is when a student finally “gets it” after struggling; it reminds me why I love teaching. I believe every student can succeed with the right support, patience, and encouragement."
