CBC celebrates Black History Month 2026 with stories from students and staff!

"My name is Jasmine and I am an undergraduate advisor of the Chemistry and Biochemistry program.

This month, I reflect on the ways I can support students within our department and across campus from all backgrounds, experiences, and stories. I think back to my academic experience and how I found my place. My advisors always made me feel that I was entering a welcoming and inclusive environment. I hope to carry that on for anyone and everyone that steps into the advising space. Recognizing the unique intersectionality of each student’s experience guides how I can support them and their goals. I want to welcome everyone with big, open arms (as seen in my photo)!"
