CBC Teaching Assistant Spotlight: Juhaer Anjum
"Hiya. I'm Juhaer Anjum, a second-year graduate student at the department of Chemistry, University of Arizona. I'm an organic major working on a medicinal chemistry project. I'm currently a TA for CHEM 152, where my responsibilities include teaching lab courses, assisting students with questions regarding their lab work, proctoring exams, and grading assignments and exams.
The most fun thing about being a TA is getting to meet a whole lot of new and wonderful people every semester. I'm teaching a Gen Chem course, so a wide array of students from different majors take this class, each with their own unique perspectives, strengths, and weaknesses. It's challenging to cater to everyone's unique needs and connect with them on a personal level, but when you do, it can be extremely rewarding. You get to be a part of their academic and personal growth, and maybe (hopefully) leave a positive impact on their lives. Seeing my students improve and progress throughout the semester is my favorite part of teaching, apart from the occasional shenanigans we can be up to in the lab."
