"My name is Kaia Mount, and I am a junior majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I am a preceptor for Dr. Dollinger’s Honors Organic Chemistry (CHEM 242A/B), where I support both students and instruction through a variety of roles. My responsibilities include attending class and assisting with in-class activities, holding weekly office hours, supporting Organic Café sessions as open help hours for organic chemistry questions, facilitating exam review sessions, staying current with course material, and assisting Dr. Dollinger to help ensure the course runs smoothly.

My favorite part of being a preceptor is helping students work through challenging concepts and seeing the moment when everything clicks. Being able to guide students to that understanding and watch their confidence grow is incredibly rewarding. Although I once did not see myself as someone who would enjoy teaching, my experiences preceptoring for both general chemistry with Dr. Graham and organic chemistry with Dr. Dollinger have been some of the most meaningful parts of my college experience. These experiences have shaped my interest in mentorship and strengthened my goal of becoming a principal investigator, where I hope to lead a lab and teach in the future." ~ Kaia Mount
