CBC Hispanic Heritage Staff Spotlight: Stephanie Boysen, Chemistry & Biochemistry

CBC continues to celebrate Hispanic Heritage! Join us as we highlight members of our community while they share their stories!
"Much of who I am and my interactions with others are set by Hispanic ideals and principals, passed down from generations of hard workers that had, or have, great integrity. Communicating in my front office role allows opportunity for a connection with anyone I encounter, almost as if we are family members. Much like in the Hispanic culture, we are all just one big family, one familial unit working towards a common goal. I adopt that approach in many professional interactions.
I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, not far from the University Campus, in a small house where my mother still resides today. I earned a Paralegal Degree in 2004 and served as a Superior Court Courtroom Clerk for well over a decade before leaving Pima County. Most of my background is in legal and judicial assistance, but I have also been a 1st-grade teacher, a photographer, and most recently, a flight attendant.
It is my Heritage, and being taught to seek guidance from God, that has enabled me to undertake challenges and work every day with intention, with purpose, and with gratitude. My culture is deeply rooted in my connections, and I have a heart to connect with everyone (seemingly, most often with laughter). I do not underestimate the level of communication styles that I have inherited and implemented professionally. My front office role with the Chemistry & Biochemistry Department fosters interaction with a multitude of personalities on the University of Arizona campus.
My Hispanic traditions, woven together with my education, faith, experience, and an individualized desire to connect with others are what I credit for many of my successes in life. I would like to strengthen my contributions culturally, and I believe I am able to do that daily with kind interactions with students, staff, and faculty here at the University, just as I was taught to do by generations of strong and wise Hispanics before me." ~ Stephanie.
