2023 AIMS Conference Awards - Tomasiak Group

Congratulations to graduate students Rodolpho Carvalho, Brian Song, and Devin Seka from the Tomasiak group for winning awards for their amazing presentations at the AIMS conference!

Here’s what some of the presenters had to say:

Rodolpho-

“My name is Rodolpho Carvalho, I am a 5th year Ph.D. student at Doctor Tomasiak’s Lab. I was presenting my poster title: ‘Elucidation and regulation of the membrane protein transporter YCF1 by cryogenic electron microscopy.’ I was awarded for demonstrating advanced skill and technique in microscopy at the Arizona Imaging and Microanalysis Society Meeting (AIMS).”

Brian-

“My name is Brian Soong from the Tomasiak lab, and I won the 1st place Thermo Fisher Scientific Award ($200 cash prize) at the Arizona Imaging and Microanalysis Society for the poster session. This was an annual meeting that functions predominantly to showcase microscopy-related research from various Arizona campuses and to facilitate networking across the student bodies.”

These successful presentations took place at the 2023 AIMS Conference on March 3, 2023 in Flagstaff, Arizona.
