2025 COS Excellence Award: Nancy Louks

Nancy was presented with this award and honored at the CoSSAC Staff Awards Luncheon on April 16, 2025! Nancy was nominated by Lisa Arrotta with favorable support by Dr. Craig Aspinwall.

Here is an excerpt from Lisa Arrotta’s nomination letter:
"Nancy has been instrumental in providing clear and solid data to the department head and the leadership team, which has enabled us to navigate significant changes, plan strategically, and pivot as necessary to continue advancing our mission. The transparency in the business office under her leadership is refreshing. Nancy works closely with CBC unit leads to find answers and solutions. When approached with questions about financial challenges or needs, she listens and works to find solutions rather than simply providing quick Yes or No answers. One example is how Nancy helps clarify the University's financial policy when it does not address a specific situation. We often have questions or unique circumstances that arise while arranging or paying for travel for guest speakers or faculty candidates. Nancy is our go-to person for a solution. We used to spend a great deal of time trying to find someone who had the knowledge or who would take the time to listen and provide clarification for unique situations. Nancy is approachable; she listens to what we are trying to accomplish, and if she doesn't have an answer, she will research and find us the correct answers or solutions. Her expertise and willingness to help have saved us a tremendous amount of time and reduced the need to redo or resubmit transactions to UA financials.  
 
Nancy has remained a steadfast and reliable presence. She consistently builds bridges within our team and across units in our department, making time for what truly matters as we all work together toward a common goal. Her positivity is infectious—she is always quick with a smile and acknowledges the hard work, effort, and cooperation of those around her. Her positive attitude and dedication to teamwork have made a lasting impact."
