New drug technology is "Breaking Barriers"

Dr. Robin Polt (pictured above) and Dr. Leandro Heien of CBC are part of a University of Arizona team of collaborators, who have developed a revolutionary new class of drugs that cross the blood-brain barrier. This new class of drugs could be used to treat degenerative neurological diseases and conditions, that currently have very few effective treatments.

IDr. Polt and Dr. Heien from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry collaborated with University Researchers Torsten Falk, an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology, and John Streicher, an Associate Professor in the College of Medicine – Tucson’s Department of Pharmacology.
