Marc Garcia, an undergraduate junior majoring in Biochemistry and MCB BS, is a MARC Program Scholar and CBC Peer Mentor.

"Hi, my name is Marc! I am an undergraduate junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology and Biochemistry with a minor in East Asian Studies. Currently, I am a part of Dr. Joyce Schroeder's lab which focuses on the mechanisms and functions of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) within triple negative breast cancer. Additionally, we are working on peptide-based therapies to potentially treat breast cancer.

When I am not in school or lab, my favorite things to do are play basketball, video games, and find new places to eat around Tucson. As I am nearing the end of my undergraduate journey, I have started to think about my plans for after graduation. I knew before coming into college that I wanted to become an anesthesiologist, so I will be applying to a MD, and MD./PhD programs during my senior year.

I am currently a MARC program scholar (a 2-year research-based program), I volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital during the school year, and I am also the vice president of the UA-Minority Association of Pre-Medical Students club (MAPS) which provides a community for pre-med students."
