Jean-Luc Bredas to Become CBC's New Department Head as of July 1, 2020

College of Science Interim Dean Elliott Cheu has announced that Dr. Jean-Luc Bredas will be the next department head for Chemistry and Biochemistry. Dr. Bredas will start in his new role on July 1, 2020, and Dr. Andrei Sanov will continue serving as Interim Head until that date.

Dr. Bredas received his Ph.D. from the University of Namur, Belgium in 1979. In 1988, he was appointed Professor at the University of Mons, Belgium, where he established the laboratory for Chemistry of Novel Materials. He moved to the U.S. in 1999 and became a Professor of Chemistry here at the University of Arizona. In 2003, he moved to Georgia Institute of Technology, where he currently holds an appointment as Regents' Professor of Chemistry.
