CBC Student Spotlight: Andres Ybarra

Congratulations to Andres Ybarra, who has been selected for a 2024-2026 W.A Franke Honors Scholarship!

"Hello! My name is Andres Ybarra and I am a Biochemistry major with plans to graduate in the spring of 2028. After graduation, I plan on attending medical school to pursue a career as a surgeon where I hope to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. I volunteered at my local hospital this summer, and this experience deepened my passion for medicine and gave me valuable firsthand experience in patient care. The W.A Franke Honors Scholarship has relieved me of the financial pressure of college, allowing me to focus more on my studies, volunteering, and preparing for medical school. Through the W.A Franke Honors Scholarship, I have been able to find a community alongside other scholars with different backgrounds, pursuing other degrees. The events held helped build connections and exposure to more opportunities, to strengthen my path in accomplishing my career goals. A little fun fact about me is that I love snowboarding and plan on taking a trip to Mount Lemmon this winter."
