"My name is Fernanda Sifuentes Quintana. I'm a sophomore in the Frank E. Honors College at the University of Arizona, majoring in Biochemistry and MCB. As I embark on my journey to attend medical school, this University and its professors have provided me with numerous wonderful opportunities, such as preceptorships and club memberships. However, the biggest opportunity of them all was provided to me by my parents. The entire reason that college was in the hand I was dealt is because my parents immigrated to the United States in their late 20s. It's the case for a lot of immigrant children, but as a first-gen student, everything I do is to make my parents proud. I also live to demonstrate why not only should Hispanics be tolerated in this country, but they should also be viewed as the assets they are.

'You are not lucky to be here. The world needs your perspective. They are lucky to have you.' - Jose Antonio Tijerino." ~ Fernanda.
