Congratulations to Philip White (left) who was selected as the CBC November Student of the Month! Nominator Evan Billington had this to say about Philip:

"After my sophomore year I switched to a chemistry degree and was worried that I would have a difficult time finding a group of friends since I was a year older than the other students in my chemistry courses. I met Phil in our first organic chemistry course during the fall 17’ semester. Phil and I started studying together shortly after. Prior to meeting Phil, I often become very overwhelmed when preparing for midterms and final examinations and that always negatively affected my study habits and of course test scores. Phil’s ability to stay calm, cool, and collective before exams is always so beneficial. After a couple years of studying with him I have realized how much this has impacted myself and other students in our study group and can give him the credit he deserves for always helping us stay poised during the lengthy/vigorous study sessions. Phil is always optimistic throughout the semester and he helps our group realize how well we have done through the semester’s midterms and assures us that if we keep working hard the final exams will not be as excruciatingly difficult as the rest of us presume. Phil is a brilliant chemistry student and his confidence in his knowledge is critical, especially with his ability to assure one of us that our chemical explanation is correct, and we are able to build that same level of confidence. Alternatively, he can accept when he is incorrect and listens to an explanation followed by his appreciation for the correction. Outside of school, Phil works at Walgreens and usually gets out of work late at night. I have no idea how he manages everything so well and to my surprise he always brings his A-game to study sessions along with the occasional late-night meals. Without hesitation, Phil will agree to pick up a friend in needs of a ride to our study sessions. Phil is a thoughtful friend and altruistic person. Together we have grown our study group and have become a group of friends who do not judge each other and instead appreciate the different perspectives and abilities that we all bring to the table while helping each other grow in areas of weakness. Our study group members are planned to graduate in May of 2020, and we are very excited to see what the future has in store for Mr. White."
