Gianetti Group Publishes: Photocatalytic α-arylation of cyclic ketones

Congratulations to Dr. Thomas Gianetti and his group for successfully publishing "Photocatalytic α-arylation of cyclic ketones." The α-arylation of ketones is a powerful synthetic strategy to build C–C bonds within pharmaceutical and fine chemicals. But general metal-free methods are scarce, and current strategies rely on expensive and toxic metals, or on toxic reagents under harsh conditions. The Gianetti group is reporting a green-light-mediated and metal-free photoredox protocol enabling this transformation, giving access to a broad range of useful building blocks and value-added biorelevant products.
