Distinguished Scholar Award: Dr. Michael Marty

Congratulations to Dr. Michael Marty for earning the Distinguished Scholar Award!

The Provost Office noted that Dr. Marty's work in the characterization of protein/lipid nanodiscs has established an entirely new area of scientific research, which is a major accomplishment. They also noted Dr. Marty's established a vibrant and diverse research group serving traditionally underrepresented groups in STEM, and how Dr. Marty has heavily supported several first-generation students.

The Distinguished Scholar Award is granted to outstanding faculty who are making transformative contributions to their disciplines and to our purpose, mission and values, and who are achieving national/international recognition. The award places emphasis on faculty who are recognized for their ground-breaking innovations and on their broader contributions to research, teaching, and community engagement, including their efforts to meet the priorities set out in the University’s Strategic Plan.
