Class of 2023 Multiple Award Recipient - Hillary Schiff
Congratulations to Hillary Schiff! Hillary was selected for the following honors and awards:
- Dean of Students Robert Logan Nugent Award
- Biochemistry Excellence in Research Recipient
- Michael A. Wells Undergraduate Research in Endowment Biological Sciences
Hillary is from Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is majoring in both Biochemistry and French. Hillary has been a part of Dr. Scott Boitano’s lab since her freshman year where she has studied allergic asthma drug development targeting Protease Activated Receptor 2 (PAR2) in the airway epithelium. This research recently culminated in a first-author paper and served as the basis for her honors thesis. Hillary is excited to present her work at the American Physiology Summit this Spring.
During her time at the University of Arizona, Hillary has engaged in service work at the Z Mansion, an outreach project serving the local population experiencing homelessness. She has also spent time volunteering at Banner University Medical Center and has been involved in various mentorship opportunities on campus.
In her spare time, Hillary enjoys writing poetry, practicing her French, and spending time with friends. She would advise any young women-in-stem starting out to believe in themselves and be proud of how far they've come. She thinks we often put a lot of pressure on ourselves to do more, so much so that we sometimes forget to find satisfaction in where we are.
After graduation, Hillary will be attending the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine to pursue an M.D. as part of the class of 2027.
