CBC Student Spotlight: Ashley Wellik

My name is Ashley Wellik, and I am a junior studying chemistry. For the past year, I have been involved in research in the Jon Njardarson organic chemistry research group.

Working with chemistry graduate student Ryan Williams, my focus is enhancing the process of synthesizing atropisomers using the group’s cope chemistry methodology.  I have also had the opportunity to work on converting the Chemistry By Design database to an AI/machine learning format.

I have really enjoyed getting to interact with others who are as passionate about chemistry as I am! My work in the lab has taught me invaluable skills that I hope to carry with me to graduate school in the future!
