On Saturday October 12th, Chemistry and Biochemistry (CBC) student volunteers from Student Members of the American Chemical Society (SMACS), CBC Ambassadors, Program to Advance Women Scientists (PAWS), and Science is Fun, came together to host a Chemistry Steam Camp, helping students between 10 and 14 years on the Autism Spectrum. Organized by CBC Emeritus Dr. Steve Brown and Paul Lee. The students and their parents were introduced to the World of Chemistry in one of the labs at the U of A, Henry Koffler building. After hands-on experimental work, the students were given a Chemistry Magic Show conducted by SMACS. The program was underwritten by the Autism Society of Southern Arizona and CBC.
