In celebration of National Women’s History Month, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is placing the spotlight on a few of our most dedicated and serving faculty, staff members, and graduate students, who operate behind the scenes in a multitude of roles for CBC.

Today we present Ellie Warder. Ellie retired last year after 41 years at The University of Arizona. She started in 1981 working as a secretary in the Department of Biochemistry, which at that time was located in the Basic Sciences Building.

Over the years, her job duties changed several times. At the time of her retirement, she was co-editor of the department's Catalyst magazine, in charge of the monthly e-newsletter and weekly issues of Tuesday's News, and ensured that communication mediums such as departmental monitors were up to date. She also served on the department's Faculty Awards Committee and expertly handled other responsibilities that kept the department running smoothly for decades.
