Business Office Staff Volunteer with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona

With the new UArizona policy of 8 hours paid per year to volunteer, several Business Office staff participated together at the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.

The need is huge.  On the day that they volunteered, 557 families came through representing food provided for 2106 people in Pima County.  Each family can come monthly and they get from 400-1000 families that come through per day, three days a week.

Volunteers assist with checking the quality of bread and produce, handing out food, breaking down boxes, re-stocking, taking tickets and more.  The food given out often changes, but last week CBC staff gave out bread, chicken, grapes, lettuce, frozen blueberries, frozen peaches, walnuts, cucumbers, oil, other fresh produce, canned goods, rice and more!

Many of the clients that came through were very appreciative and continually thanked CBC staff for their participation. "It was a very eye opening and rewarding experience!" shared HR Lead Debbi Busack.
