This scholarship honoring the late Carl S. Marvel was established by his family, friends, colleagues, and the Southern Arizona Section of the American Chemical Society.
Prof. Marvel was known for his dedication to education as well as for his many scientific accomplishments. During his lifetime, Prof. Marvel earned many honors and awards, including being elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 1938. After 41 years of service at the University of Illinois, Prof. Marvel retired in 1961 and moved to Tucson, where he joined the Department of Chemistry at the University of Arizona. For an outstanding Chemistry graduate student in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Selection Process
Selection is made upon recommendations from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, subject to the approval of the College of Science Scholarship Committee.
