Presenter: Chris Marshall, Graduate Student, Chemistry and Biochemistry, The University of Arizona

Bio: Christopher Marshall is a 2nd year graduate student in Jon Nardarson's laboratory and is working on novel advances in the areas of material-polymer chemistry and organic synthesis. Graduating from the University of Arizona with a B.S. in Chemistry, Christopher then worked at Accelerate Diagnostics in Tucson, AZ as an associate scientist in pharmaceutical formulations.

Abstract: My work in the Njardarson research group has involved the synthesis of novel classes of monomers for sulfur polymerization in an effort to develop new classes of materials with high infrared transparency. The design and synthesis of these monomers will be described. Additionally, my work in exploring new chemistry and targets utilizing the products of our anionic amino Cope cascade reaction will be described.
