Bio: Rashmi Amarakoon is a second-year graduate student in McGrath group and is mainly working on the design and synthesis of OligoPhenylene Vinylene Derivatives (molecular wires) with optimal characteristic features. Originally from Sri Lanka and received the Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in Chemistry from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in 2020. In her undergraduate research study, she monitored the atmospheric heavy metal air pollution using an alternative approach "Moss Biomonitoring '' and developed mathematical relationships to analyze dependent variables based on the surrogate approach.
