Steven Fried

Steven FriedSteven is a senior majoring in Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Applied Mathematics at the University of Arizona. He is in his fourth year of conducting research in Professor Michael Brown’s lab, where he is investigating structural dynamics of the visual protein rhodopsin, including rhodopsin’s interactions with surrounding soft matter such as water and membrane lipids. After his undergraduate studies are completed, Steven plans to attend a PhD program in chemistry and become involved in a research career in biophysical chemistry. Outside of his academic studies and research, Steven has been involved with the CBC and College of Science Ambassadors, the Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP), the Navigators, UA MathCats, and the Biophysical Society. In his free time, Steven enjoys hiking, reading, watching classic movies, and playing piano and the trombone.
