I am a 5th year physical chemistry student studying molecular motions of antiviral drugs using solid-state NMR spectroscopy. I research synthesized antiviral drug, rimantadine-d3, that have been selectively deuterated. From such a small group as the methyl group, I have made an interesting discovery. Because the off-axial motion can happen quite easily, the deuterated methyl group, when it is inside the proton channel, can interfere with the proton conduction of the influenza proton channel. After graduation, I would like to work in the industry to find a novel drug. I would like to thank the Galileo circle for this opportunity.
