Samantha Macklin-Isquierdo is majoring in Biochemistry at the University of Arizona, with minors in French and Optical Engineering. She is participating in neurodegeneration research in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology with Dr. Daniela Zarnescu. She is team leader on a project involving the connection between copper regulatory protein, ATP7A, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). After finishing her undergraduate degree, she hopes to get job experience and eventually attend graduate school. She is a member of the University of Arizona Philharmonic Orchestra, and enjoys reading, listening to a variety of music, and hiking.
