Meucci Ilunga

Meucci IlungaMeucci Ilunga began his undergraduate career at the University of Arizona in the Summer of 2016, as a part of the then-named UA Bear Down Summer Bridge Program when he was 16-years-old. He was born and raised on the Navajo Reservation and has a distinct focus in trying to bridge the gap between modern academia and his Native community. He’s been involved in research since his freshman year and has been a part of both the Partnership for Native American Cancer Prevention and the UA Maximizing Access to Research Careers program—both NIH-sponsored programs, working primarily on mice protein genetics and copper response proteins in various bacteria. After graduation in May 2020, he hopes to pursue study in computational biology or bioengineering.
