Hello! My name is Jordan Barrows, and I am a senior studying Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology. I came down to Tucson from Helena, Montana, where I was born and raised, and I have been enjoying the warm weather here since then. I am currently working in the lab of Dr. Daniela Zarnescu through the Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP), investigating glucose metabolism defects in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) using fruit flies as a model organism. When I am not in the lab, I enjoy spending time playing music, hiking, traveling, and teaching. Following my graduation in May of 2017, I will be attending graduate school at Johns Hopkins University, pursuing a doctorate degree in biochemistry or a related field in the hopes of entering a career in research and academia.
