Joey is a senior graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics in May 2017. A born-and-raised Tucsonan, he has been proud to represent his hometown as a UA student, a research assistant at the UA Cancer Center, and a laboratory TA for general chemistry. His research at the UA Cancer Center under Dr. Julio Cárdenas-Rodríguez was focused on non-invasive prediction of important cancer characteristics (such as acidity or therapeutic response) using contrast agent-enhanced MRI techniques. He will be continuing at UC Berkeley in the fall towards a Chemistry PhD with an emphasis in physical chemistry. He hopes to eventually become a professor of Chemistry.
