Congratulations to CBC Assistant Professor Thomas Gianetti, who received a grant from the American Chemical Society – Petroleum Research Fund. The award comes in at $110,000 for the support of his project entitled “Design of Late-Late Transition Metal Bimetallic Complexes for CO2 Reduction.” The award runs from January 1, 2019 to August 31, 2021.

Thomas joined CBC in September 2017. During this project he will develop novel late transition metal bi-nuclear organometallic complexes for reducing CO2 to formic acid using hydrogen. The successful development will transform CO2 into economically useful intermediates and products to help sustain the petroleum economy as the main energy source. Congratulations, Thomas!
