Majoring in both Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry, Alexander plans to graduate in the Spring Semester of 2017. Currently, he does research in the Polt Lab focused on the synthesis of different glycolipids and glycoproteins. The two main goals of the research are to study the principles of micelles, for applications ranging from soap design to drug delivery, and to determine the principles behind metal catalysis, and the resulting stereochemistry in these reactions. Outside of school, Alexander is highly involved with the College of Science Ambassadors and the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. After graduation, he will be pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a focus on Organic Synthesis.
