Two CBC Alumni earned NSF Fellowships

Two CBC alumni who earned NSF Fellowships while working on their undergraduate degrees are in the news.

Brittany Forte, who was our keynote speaker at the 2017 CBC Commencement Awards Ceremony, currently is a cancer biology doctoral student. Her research focuses on better understanding the interaction between the most common sexually transmitted infection, Human Papillomavirus, and the immune system.

Another UA alumnus, Ahmed Badran, went on to study at Harvard University after his time at the UA. He is currently a fellow at the Broad Institute of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University. Badran applies synthetic biology principles to address shortcomings in the current understanding of conserved cellular processes.
