Hello! My name is Dez Coleman and I am a sophomore majoring in Biochemistry while minoring in Spanish and Mathematics. Currently, I am a member of the Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) where I conduct research in the Vanderah Lab in the Department of Pharmacology in the UA College of Medicine. I focus on pain and bone remodeling induced by metastatic bone disease (i.e., cancer induced bone pain) and the efficacy of novel interventions in this disease state. Outside of the lab, I am a peer mentor and ambassador for the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department as well as a volunteer at Desert Diamond Children’s Hospital. In my free time, I enjoy creating stained glass masterpieces, reading, and visiting antique stores. I plan to enter medical research as a career, either from the standpoint of a physician or a scientist.
